OTHER than dead, I mean... I was one of the 4 cab drivers that had to drive to Canby and pick up the folks getting off the train and drive them to Eugene. That's -------> what Amtrak had to pay me to get them down there.
I got these 3 little old ladies ... "Oh Honey, do you think you should drive so fast??" Me: Well, we are only going 60, the speed limit IS 65. "Yes, but ... you know ... we just KILLED someone." Thankfully they fell asleep after about 40 minutes. Sweethearts, but ... jeez.
Here's the link to the small bit of story I could find:

Wow... they could have taken the train and saved some money! Oh wait...
I was on an Amtrak train that hit a car once. We had to wait around on the train in summer heat with no AC, no food, and no working toilets for the train to get a new engine so we could continue on. Five hour train ride from Chicago to St. Louis took 13 hours. At least I wasn't in the car though. :\
that was nice of you to lull them to sleep by travelling below the speed limit....wish it worked on my customers.
Planes never hit cars. But I do have to say I am falling for taking trains nowadays. So how did you eventually get the money? Did Amtrak send you a check in the mail or what?
Just lettin' ya know... I'm still reading your blog and loving it.

is that $2500? Wow. Is there a mandatory tip?
Brett: no, it's $258.60. They don't tip at all. But, hey, after $200 I'm not really that concerned about it. :o)
